Milestone Gears was founded in 1984 by Mr. Ashok Tandon, a technocrat with a Master’s degree in Engineering and Administration from the USA. In the early 1980s, the manufacturing of rear axles and rock shafts primarily relied on hardening and tempering processes. While standard at the time, these methods were costly and often left components vulnerable to performance issues and fatigue failures. Similarly, bull gears — the largest gear in a tractor, subjected to extreme torques — were manufactured through carburising of alloy steel, a process that was both expensive and less productive compared to induction-hardened bull gears made from cost effective plain carbon steel.
Milestone Gears was established with a vision to add value to customers’ businesses by pioneering emerging technologies that addressed these challenges of high costs and suboptimal performance & attaining the leadership position in all such component families.
By the late 1980s, the company became one of the earliest adopters of induction hardening technology in India, introducing it for bull gears, rear axles, and rock shafts. This innovation enabled several OEMs to transition from toughening to induction hardening, delivering superior performance and cost efficiency. As a result, Milestone Gears steadily gained market share in these component families while expanding its product portfolio.
Milestone Gears has been able to successfully carve a leadership position in the manufacturing ofrear axles, transmission gears & shafts, and planetary drive components for automotive applications. The company is the leader in bull gears and rock shafts in India, among the Top 2 producers of tractor rear axles, and among the Top 3 producers of ring gears for tractors and construction equipment.
Currently led by second-generation entrepreneur Mr. Aman Tandon, who attended Aeronautical Engineering at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, Milestone Gears has generated multiple revenue streams from diversified Industry Segments such as Electric Vehicles (EVs), Locomotives, Windmills & other heavy industries, other than tractors & Construction Equipment manufacturers – both in domestic as well as Exports arena. Since inception, the company has remained at the forefront of technology.
Today, Milestone Gears manufactures over 700 automotive components, serving 20+ leading OEMs across 9 global geographies. With its emphasis on precision, quality & delivery parameters, it has earned the unique distinction of bagging 53% components as a single source supplier.
